How to Make a QR Code Menu for Free

By Tuğberk Can ÖzenPublished 5 November 20264 min read

TL;DRYou can make a QR code menu for free if “the menu” is a page you already have and you only need a code that opens it. The generator on this site does that with no account: PNG or SVG, and the code holds your link, so it does not expire and we cannot switch it off. You can also build and preview a DigitalMenuKit menu without paying.

You cannot publish that hosted menu for free. The public address, the code that stays while prices change, the print PDF of your own menu, and the page for each dish are the paid plan, $29 a month or $199 a year per venue. This page is only the free steps, and the moment they stop.

What is free

The QR code generator is free. Type a link, pick colours, download PNG or SVG. Nothing you type is sent to us. The code is made in the browser. There is no scan counter on this generator. There is no expiry, because the code is the link.

Previewing a menu you build here is free. You can import a PDF, a photo, a spreadsheet or an existing page, fix the draft, pick a design and read it on a phone. No card. The draft is private. It is not a menu your guests can open, and it is not a free plan with a guest limit. It is a draft.

Looking at the sample menus and the templates is free. They are fictional venues. You can start your own draft from a design. Downloading a PDF of your menu is not free.

A free code for a page you already control

Put the menu on a page you can edit, as text if you can. A photo of the paper menu is a weak page: guests pinch to zoom, and a search engine cannot read the dishes reliably. A PDF is a better file for a printer than for a phone.

Copy that page's address into the generator. Download the SVG if you are printing, the PNG if you are dropping it into a slide or a social post. Keep the code dark on a light background, and print it at least 2 cm wide. Test it with a phone that is not on your account.

Tape or tent the code where a guest can reach it without moving a glass. When the page address changes, the printed code is wrong. A code is only as stable as the link inside it.

The free path that goes stale

A code that points at a PDF is free and honest, and it freezes the menu. The next price change is a new PDF, a new upload, and often a new code if the file's address changed. Guests who saved the old code, and table tents you already printed, keep the old prices.

A code that points at a platform's trial does the same thing when the trial ends. Read what the code contains. If it contains your own page, you can move later. If it contains their short link, they can retire it.

Our generator contains your link. That is the free promise, and the whole of it. It will not rewrite the code when your specials change.

Where the free steps end

Publish when you want one address that survives a price change. You edit the menu, publish, and the same QR code opens the new price. Each dish gets a page. You can paste the menu address into Google Business Profile. None of that is on the free generator. The plan is $29 a month or $199 a year, described on QR code menu price and on pricing.

There is no trial month. The preview is how you decide. If you only needed a code for a page that already exists, stop at the generator and do not create an account.

If the menu still lives in a PDF, the import is turn a PDF menu into a QR code menu. The import builds a draft of up to 150 items. You still check it. The draft stays free until you publish.

Frequently asked questions

Is the QR code generator really free?

Yes. No account, no expiry, PNG and SVG. It makes a code for a link. It does not host the menu.

Can I publish my menu without paying?

No. Building and previewing are free. The public menu is the paid plan.

Will a free code count my scans?

No. The generator does not store what you type. Visits show in the panel only for a menu you publish.
